Convicted sex offender arrested trying to get into U.S. Associated Press Jul. 13, 2004 07:20 AM TUCSON - A convicted sex offender from El Salvador has been arrested while trying to sneak into the United States, authorities said. Carlos Alberto Gonzalez was arrested Monday about 10 miles east of Douglas by U.S. Border Patrol agents. Gonzalez, 30, was convicted and sentenced to two years in 1999 for lewd and lascivious acts with a child in California and returned to El Salvador in 2000. Gonzalez was in federal custody and charged with re-entry of an aggravated felon, Border Patrol officials said. ww.azcentral.com
